After a friend introduced Clare to the gym she joined to better her form and try lifting heavier weights. Despite her nerves and experience with other gyms, she gave it a go and discovered a place she was comfortable in could build her confidence up in.
“Since going to other gyms, I’ve been really scared in going in there, lifting heavy, because, obviously, all the stereotypes in a gym… You don’t see many women in that section.”
She benefitted from the staff’s support and regular wellbeing appointments, especially in lifting her confidence and found that the weights section wasn’t so intimidating.
“Coming here I’ve had the opportunity to build my confidence up… The staff that were here were brilliant… “
And things didn’t stop there for Clare, the mental health improvements she made have been so valuable, resulting in her being able to stop taking antidepressants. She attributes her success to her regular gym routine and the support from her wellbeing coach, which both help keep her mindset consistent.
